About the Lotus Mahal
The Lotus Mahal, also known as the Kamal Mahal or Chitragani Mahal, is part of the Zenana enclosure, which is where the royal family of the Vijayanagara Empire lived. The Vijayanagara Empire ruled much of Southern India from 1336 to 1646. The Lotus Mahal was a meeting point for the ladies of the royal family as well as a conference hall for the Emperor and his ministers.
