The area around the Indian side of border at Sounali can be dangerous and we recommend against spending time there at night.

Taxis depart from right by the border. The bus station for services to Kathmandu or Pokhara is a few kilometres away from the border in Bhairahawa. Bus services to both Kathmandu and Pokhara tend to depart either in the morning before 11:00, or in the afternoon or evening after 17:00 to travel overnight.
